Who is Steve Connor?
Coach / Mentor / Catalyst
Steve
began studying motivation and the psychology of change in
1978.
In 1993, after 34 years with Southwestern Bell Communications,
the last six years as vice president of sales operations and
managing director of human resources, Steve left SBC and founded
Synergy Development Associates. Since then he has worked as
a consultant primarily with companies headquartered in the
St. Louis area.
In 1995 he discovered that individual coaching greatly enhanced
the productivity and personal growth of people who had attended
some of his sales and management development programs. At
that point he associated with Coach University and became
a member of the International Coaching Federation. In addition to Steve's work as a corporate
consultant, he currently coaches executives and professionals both
in-person and in various locations around the country, by telephone.
In 1996 the Associated General Contractors of St. Louis (the
AGC) retained Steve as their exclusive facilitator for the
Partnering process. This has developed into a continuing relationship
with the AGC, member firms of the AGC, and the Missouri Department
of Transportation. He was the keynote speaker at the 1998
Missouri Highway Engineers Annual Conference on Partnering.
Throughout his career, Steve has been involved in both civic
and community service groups and has served on the boards
of numerous non-profit and for-profit companies.
In mid-1993, Steve experienced a stroke,
and currently plays
an active role in the Stroke Visitation Program, visiting
stroke survivors both in the hospital and at home. Through this work, he helps other stroke
survivors work through the many issues they currently face.
To further help the community, he serves on the Board of Directors
to the St. Elizabeth Adult Day Care Centers. Aside from his
work with the aged, he also is a Volunteer In Corrections
(VIC) for the Missouri Department of Corrections, guiding
inmates to learn more about themselves and to become better
citizens when they are parolled.
Recently, Steve has been working with his colleague, Jut Meininger,
helping Jut prepare his third and fourth books on New Transactional
Analysis. The purpose of the books
is to provide tools that will increase productivity in both
the personal and business environments through clarity of
thinking, acting, and communicating.
Steve also has co-authored the book, "The High Cost of
Being 'Top Dog'," with another associate Dale Furtwengler,
in February of 2002.
